360-degree feedback in near real-time
CLIENT
A top tier strategy Consulting Firm, Singapore.
MY ROLE
User Research, Mobile App Design, Interaction Design, and Prototyping.
TOOLS
PROBLEM STATEMENT
To obtain 360-degree employee feedback in near real-time. To eliminate 6-monthly employee review cycles and make immediate feedback collection a seamless process.
This app was part of a pilot project set in motion by the Firm's Culture Department and I had to come up with an MVP in 3 months.
The app follows the "mindful designing" principle. The user's privacy, limited time, and attention span were key to optimum user experience.

PROJECT GOALS
Feedback has to be bias-free.
The person giving his/her feedback must be anonymous.
Every Consultant receives push notifications in the form of meeting reminders and feedback submissions.
Feedback must be generated within 24 hours.
The app must be easy to use. It should take a Consultant less than 5 minutes to complete the feedback.
1.
Interviews with consultants, analysts, managers and their teams to understand the goals and objectives of obtaining quick feedback.
2.
A card sorting exercise was conducted to set the browsing hierarchy for the app. Based on this, the following order was decided -
* Profiles - A view into all consultant profiles.
* Calendar - A view showing the number of meetings in a day and details of those meetings.
* Feedback - Feedback form, number of feedbacks pending and number of feedbacks obtained.
* Rating - Shows a pie chart denoting performance in various fields in the form of a percentage. These were used to reward, motivate, retain and influence employee behaviour from time-to-time.
* Settings - To update personal data and preferences.

CORE CUSTOMER NEEDS
JOSIE LANE
Senior Manager, APAC
She is a 37-year old Senior Manager, who is often part of many off-site business development meetings. She travels to different countries within South East Asia every 3 to 4 days. She is time-crunched on most days and needs to come up with many last-minute client presentations.
Thus, she'd prefer an app, which is outlook integrated, so that meeting details of participants and organizers can be auto picked from the email invite. These details can also be added into the calendar later on.
SAMUEL MCLAIN
Associate, CIRP
His job is to understand key business drivers and consult internal business stakeholders.
Communicating, presenting, and prioritizing deliverables are crucial to his role. Thus, near real-time feedback would help him engage better with the stakeholders and his teammates.
He prefers an app, wherein additional questions could be included in the feedback form prior to a meeting or presentation, so that, the feedback received is specific and comprehensive.
LAUREL MATTHEW
Manager, Digital Transformation
Laurel is constantly on-the-go. For her prioritizing tasks is the most essential aspect of Consulting. She is juggling multiple projects, meeting clients, and solving problems. As per her, the feedback app fulfils the criteria of a forward-looking “performance achievement” review versus the traditional “performance management” approach.
